In memory of Cassie Sheehan

This year’s primary beneficiary is Cassie Sheehan.  Cassie lives in Baton Rouge where she resides with her husband Garrett and young children Gabby and Cole. As if it weren’t challenging enough to be a wife and mother of a toddler and infant, Cassie Sheehan is in a battle to beat Leukemia. 

Cassie’s got plenty of experience taking on tough tasks.  She’s a first grade teacher at Port Allen Elementary and has been leading classrooms for the past 16 years. She excels at it too! Cassie is a National Board Certified Teacher who has been nominated for teacher of the year twice and was the 2011-2012 parish elementary school teacher of the year. 

Winning this challenge won’t be easy. On January 5, 2018, Cassie was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia with a very aggressive FLT 3 Mutation.  The FLT 3 Mutation puts her at a high risk for relapses.  She is currently receiving chemotherapy treatments monthly, but needs a bone marrow transplant. If she receives a bone marrow transplant, she will be hospitalized for several months.

Clash of Cooks is a non-profit event established to help provide financial relief with on-going medical expenses of local families who are battling cancer.
